Content writer and developers always need a proper direction. For this, content strategists need a wake-up call for planning a suitable strategy (or set of strategies) for the year 2014. Competition will be tough and allow me to say cut-throat, as everyone has understood the importance of content. To make a solid impact on the readers or customers, content strategists should set some great strategies which are the best combinations of multiple tactics and a detailed analysis should be carried out in advance.
I am writing this post to keep all content strategists away from the blunders which must be avoided in order to drive a sound content policy. Go through the following carefully:
1 – Focus on a target audience:
Like everyone, I would suggest to focus on your primary audience. Forget about writing for everyone. Try to write for a selected niche, once you get the hold of that particular niche only then you should think about taking a leap, before that never consider yourself a “one stop shop” for every kind of reader.
2 – Below-quality content:
This is quite an “easy to understand” point – never write or compose content with bad grammar, sentence structuring or below average information. For a content writer and a content strategist the most important element behind every write-up is the quality of the content. One should never risk it at any cost. Whether the client is in a hurry or the boss needs a deadline to be met, never let a below-average article, blog or write-up to go live. After all, it’s you who will be asked for the curation of the content. Do you job like a master!
3 – Avoid putting your content on 3rd party sites
There are times when a writer writes his best piece for other websites. This should be avoided. The content will help that particular site to grow and not yours. If the write-up is really great, informative and free from errors then why not publish it on your own site or blog. Use some off-page SEO techniques to make it visible around the World Wide Web. I am not by any means implying that one should strictly stop writing for 3rd party sites but all I want to say is that just glorify your own site first so that the readers like what they see.
4 – Relying on content is not everything
I am sure most of the content writers and content strategists think that having a good content is the only BIG thing. In fact, one should never forget the significance of appealing and attractive images that add relevance to the content. With that in mind and included in the post rest assured that your content will be shared on more platforms and as a result it will be read by multiple readers. Start to add images in your articles and blog-posts.
With these tips and techniques I am sure in 2014 content strategists will be able to drive effective content plans and strategies. Share your opinions and tips to help others!
